The Lavender Field on Glen Innish Farm

Our Test Plot of Lavender

In 2021, we planted our first 100 lavender plants - 20 plants of 5 different varieties.  This was our test plot to see if the plants would survive our winters this close to Lake Michigan.  We were pleasantly surprised how well they did.  In just 2 short years, we had our first lavender field.

Our Varities

After years of research we decided on two varieties of lavender.

~ Grosso - a high oil and wonderful smelling lavender that provides great long spikes of lavender

~ Munstead - a more culinary lavender that we feel has great taste.

New Field Construction

In the summer of 2023 and after several hours with stakes, rope and a couple cans of spray paint, we had our fields laid out.

We opted for a more intricate pattern - the graze pathways of our lavender field form the 4 outer circles of our logo.

The 5th Circle is a seating area, were our guests can sit and enjoy the peace and tranquility of our lavender while looking out over the rolling pastures.

"A Garden is not a Place, It is a Journey."
