Animals on the Farm

    Beef on the Farm

Our cattle are in the rolling pastures of our 80-acre farm from early spring until late fall. The cattle’s diet is 95% grass feed through their life.

At times, it is important that we add a small amount of grain to their diets. We believe that grain is not the enemy of beef production, but rather a very useful companion to ensure the healthiest cattle possible.

By adding small amounts of grains, minerals and salts, our feeding program help to promote healthy weight gain and adds the marbling and flavor of our beef, without loosing the benefits of the grass-fed beef – which we believe is the best of both worlds.

We take great pride in raising healthy and wholesome meats for our family and yours. Equally important to us is raising happy cattle in a healthy and humane environment.

    Sheep on the Farm

Throughout the summer you will see the ewes out in the pastures grazing fresh grass. In the winter, they will be tucked into the barns eating hay that we make ourselves. We make sure that the sheep always have free access to grass or hay, as much as they wish to eat, no matter what season.

In addition to grass and hay, a supplement of whole grains and minerals are added during times to ensure that the ewes thrive through the ewes’ pregnancy and lactation, when their lambs are nursing. As the lambs grow, they are offered free choice hay or grass as well as whole grains.

This grass/hay, whole grains, fresh air and room to roam around mean a happier and healthier animal, and we believe it also means healthier meats.
